(CNN) -- Sarah Shourd, the American hiker freed from an Iran prison after 14 months, released a song Wednesday to support her fiance and friend who remain behind bars in Tehran.

Shourd composed the song, "Piece of Time," while in solitary confinement in Evin Prison. It is available on a YouTube channel dedicated to seeking the release of the pair who remain imprisoned: YouTube.com/user/FreeTheHikers.

"I wrote many songs in prison that helped me get through 410 days alone in a cell," Shourd said.

Iranian authorities released her in September on humanitarian grounds.

Shourd, 32, left behind fellow Americans Shane Bauer, 28, who is her fiance, and their friend, Josh Fattal, 28.

"The last time I saw Shane and Josh, on the day I was freed, they asked me to use my music to raise support for them and get them out of prison," Shourd said. "Music has its own power, as do images. It's my hope that the song and video can bring people closer to our story in a new and powerful way."

"When we were finally allowed to spend a short time together in the yard of Evin Prison each day, I would sing Shane and Josh my songs," she said. "I know they're singing them now to keep our connection strong during this painful separation."

The three Americans were detained after they allegedly strayed across an unmarked border into Iran while hiking in Iraq's Kurdistan region. Iran accused the three of spying, a charge the United States and the hikers have denied.

"We walked across hard land into a human trap. They took us for one long ride. You're now in Iran, Iran," Shourd sings in the plaintive tune. "You with your burnt green eyes. Haven't you said to me, 'All they can take from us is a piece of time."
